Is that the 5 blade one? If it is I didn't get on with it. The triple blade with vibration is the best one I've found.

Yes its five blades and vibrates. Which is a kinda weird sensation.

Are they expensive? I've no idea, a mate gave me a gift pack thing yesterday out of the blue. Obviously my unkempt facial growth was starting to disturb him! smile

It's a decent shave, but it's not THAT good. Certainly not the thick end of £2.50 a cartridge good. I got one for Christmas from an elderly relative. The gel's good though.

And remember, The Onion saw it coming.

"I'm telling them to stick two more blades in there. I don't care how. Make the blades so thin they're invisible. Put some on the handle. I don't care if they have to cram the fifth blade in perpendicular to the other four, just do it!"

The Onion is pure genius. Reminds me of the Coca Cola 30 litre story donkey's years ago - http://www.theonion.com/content/node/39296

I think Hale and Pace did it before that - I can't find a video clip of it but remember it from ages ago.

I got fed up of paying silly money for razor blades so now use a 1930s double edged razor. Blades cost about £3 for 10 and it gives a much better shave than any other razor I have tried apart from a straight one. It does take a little getting used to, but it's worth taking the time to learn. Using a proper brush and shaving soap also makes a big difference. Most of the gels are horrible in comparison.

The stuff I actually buy, as opposed to get for Xmas and use until gone, is the King Of Shaves low-foam gel, or the shaving oil. For razors I buy Gillette Blue II or Slalom or similar. 10 for 3 quid, like blades, but I'm less likely to slice my face off. I'm a bit hamfisted in the morning.

If you haven't tried the KoS shaving oil, give it a go; it's a revelation, especially if you're prone to razor burn.

Yeah but doesn't it irradiate you with neutrons? Or are they using p-11B fusion? That would be cool.

Still, I reckon having a beard is a better option.

I tried it once before, and it did help if using gel or foam out of a can, but with decent soap and a brush there isn't really any point.

If you get razor burn, it is often because the razor is cutting too aggressively. Multi-bladed ones work by the first blade snagging and pulling the hair and one of the subsequent ones actually cutting. This may be OK for some people but if you are of dark complexion or have a thick beard it can result in the cut happening at a point on the hair that is normally just below the surface of the skin. This can cause bumps and ingrown hairs. A single bladed safety razor just slices the hair off at skin level and so can be a lot more forgiving. It doesn't give as close a shave in a single stroke, so you have to go over a couple of times but does result in a lot less discomfort, and the end result is still very close. You can't use any pressure at all with it though as you will cut yourself, but the idea is that the blade does the work.

I've been converted to the Fusion too. Yes, the blades cost a packet, but they also last a lot longer than Mach 3's or similar.

You can also save a couple of quid by buying the "non-power" blades,as long as you don't mind your razor and blades no longer being colour co-ordinated.

don't buy the Ebay blades either, or so I'm told. They're apparently Chinese copies and rather nasty.

Would someone tell me how this happened? We were the fking vanguard of shaving in this country. The Gillette Mach3 was the razor to own. Then the other guy came out with a three-blade razor. Were we scared? Hell, no. Because we hit back with a little thing called the Mach3Turbo. That's three blades and an aloe strip. For moisture. But you know what happened next? Shut up, I'm telling you what happened—the bds went to four blades. Now we're standing around with our cocks in our hands, selling three blades and a strip. Moisture or no, suddenly we're the chumps. Well, fk it. We're going to five blades. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/33930

I love the Fusion but the thing that really makes a big difference is using a brush and shaving soap. The soap costs about £5 and lasts about a year as well!

Tried Fusion . Wanted to love it. I really did. But it never seemed to get stuck into the foliage like the vibrating Turbo Mach Three Nitro Nutter bd. So I went back to using that.
