What is the standard static timing setting for a American Speed engine?

Thanks,
Martin

Mine for my 525bhp motor is 16 degrees at 900rpm, going to 39 degrees at 3000.

Phil,

Is your and American Speed engine?

Mine is a 535bhp engine, do I assume the timing will be the same?

Martin.

I think the cam makes a slight difference to total advance. I changed mine and the new cam was 39 degrees

Martin, yes it is an AS unit, now with EFI, but I have kept the same basic timing.

Cheers Phil.

On another subject, what EFI system are you running as I am thinking of converting mine this winter?

Martin.

I did my own, based on MegaSquirt. My system uses an Edelbrock Victor EFI manifold with matching fuel rails, Accel injectors, Aeromotive high pressure pump etc etc. It also makes use of the Ford EDIS-8 wasted spark system, with twin coil packs and a 36-1 trigger wheel on the nose of the crank. In place of the old dissy I now have an MSD plug which just drives the oil pump.

If you look at my profile I have a general website that will lead you to another site specific to my EFI conversion for a bit more detail and pics.

Blimey - thats pretty much exactly what I plan for mine (apart from I have a Holley StealthRam, which I am seriously considering swapping for the Victor EFI manifold)

Will be watching you progress with great interest smile

Hi Paul, my website may be a bit miss leading as I never got to finish updating it. The car has been up and running with EFI for the last two years (approx 5500 miles to date). Do you ever make it to Stoneleigh, I can't remember seeing your car there before?

Hi Phil - I haven't made it it to Stoneleigh for a number of years - don't really frequent shows until I start thinking about my next project smile - I see the turn out is going to be good this year. I'll see if I can dig mine out from behind 3 tonnes of ballast its currently sat behind..
