Hi,
wondering if anyone can give me some advice on gear oils.
The car is a 2litre Astra GTE which has a limited slip differential.
Am I right in thniking you need special oil for a limited slip diff to a 'regular' diff?
If so can anyone recomend some.
thanks

I thought vauxhalls used either TQF or Dextron1/2 as standard.
Basically its red and is used in auto transmissions.
Best to phone a vauxhall dealers mechanic and ask to be safe tho.

The GTE never came with an LSD as standard AFAIK (not even the 16v), so these oils may not be suitable. It depends on what sort of LSD is fitted, a Torsen or Viscous type can probably use the standard oil without problems, a plate type may need a specific oil. The manufacturer of the diff would be the one to approach.
