Hi, I am attending the Le Mans Classic event this year on the 11-13th July and will be driving back to Calais on the 14th, which of course is Bastille Day. I have had mixed reports on the extent to which things are closed down on that day and so am after some advice. Will petrol stations be open (and manned as I have had problems over the years with self service stations not accepting British credit cards)? Also will many restaurants be open as it would be nice to stop off for a spot of lunch someplace nice on the way back?
I was aware that it was Bastille Day when I booked, but had assumed it would be like a Bank holiday in Britain, where most people are on holiday, but many shops, petrol stations and restaurants & bars are all still open.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Autoroute petrol stations will be open. More remote and rustic stations might be closed. I think most restaurants and cafes will be open. Tourist places and big cities will be mostly open, too. However, some out of the way places will be closed. I do not expect you will have any significant problems.
