Looks as if I am about to about to order a 450D body, to replace an aged EOS650.... Having spent the interim years playing with digital compacts.

Tried my old eos lenses on a 400D and they seemed to work ok, I'm sure the quality will not be as good as a new lenses but the old cannon EF 70-210 and the original 30 -65 (or similar) should get me started.

Just wondered if anyone had actually got a 450D and what their thoughts are, does it live up to the hype?

The test shots on dpreview are the only things I've seen and frankly I'm not impressed.

You can get a 40D for about £500 that would be my pic.

That looks like a fairly strong steer to the 40D, I had liked the fact that the 450d uses SD cards (intechangeable between my compacts) as oppossed to the CF cards, also does the 40D have a remote control facility?

One can buy a cheap remote for the 450d for £10 pounds whilst a remote for the 40d (LC-5 looks to be circa £250) am I wrong on this? Hope I am as this is looking tempting....

450d is available at Jessops and Amazon it appears.
