Anyone any experience of using this on Vista via a USB - serial converter? If so, any stability problems?... seem to be getting some random stuff going on and am unsure whether it's down to the lappie or whether I've got some noise in the wiring.

Occasionally getting the ECU connection logged off with various error messages, and can't read maps off ECU (though can load them to the ECU). Oh, and settings seem to be changing of their own accord too. confused

Apart from that it's fine smile

Bet I get the prize for the biggest backfire so far hehe

But still not running yet frown

are you running the usb/serial converter from emerald? aparently some can be a bit hit and miss but they seem to have found one that's quite stable and you can purchase through them*, other than that I'm not much help as my mapping laptop is on XP and i have no issues on that at all with K3 or M3D versions of emerald.

Jools post the link mate,( on my head be it) I believe that is aimed at self promotion of commercial links..is it this one?

Post links to commercial websites or personal adverts. All advertising on PistonHeads must be through the normal channels.

No, it's not 'theirs' but one with the chip that's supposed to get over all the compatibility issues (can't remember the chip spec/name)... does work with the LC1, which is notorious for glitches.

Ok, just to update this and maybe save anyone else some grief, this is almost certainly due to an interconnect incompatibility I'm advised. Emerald have kindly offered to send me the necessary FTDI spec cable, which will hopefully sort it smile

You better change your username Joolz, in line with new rules. wink

Use a username that contains any reference to a company or website name.

Now where's Tim from ACT or Derek from AB Shocks

yeh some of the rules seem a bit poorly thought through, have been watching the guys on the photography forum getting upset about haymarket owning any pic ever posted on PH or something and saying they may use any pic posted on pH for their own gains, so the photography forums peeps are pulling their picture threads down and taking pictures off other threads right left and centre, its creating chaos.

I have K3 V1 Rev 0.81 running under Vista.

Sometimes it says 'not responding' when I start the program, but mostly its ok.

The driver for the cable is different for Vista, I was given to understand. My cable came from Emerald.

The makers sent me this link.

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Oh damn, under the new rules, I told you, now I have to kill you.

Perhaps we should all vote with our feet and move to another forum.

My legal representatives, Ronnie, Reggie, Doug, Dinsdale and partners will be round to see you. wink

It's a modified version of my email signature. Is there any way to automaticaly add a signature to a post?

If I understand correctly, I post an image and Haymarket now own the IPR to it.

What if I don't own the IPR to it, but have just linked to it. Do they seriously mean they own it?

OK, I may have a copy of a famous cartoon. As Haymarket are about to become the proud owners of the IPR to this cartoon, I think it only fair they have a head start on the guys from the local Mosque. They may want a word with you about it.

Are Haymarket sure they want to own everything?
