Hi all

Took a wander out last night to play with a tripod for the first time.

Got these that I quite liked...

and

But a couple of thoughts come to mind. Firstly, that I should take more care cleaning lenses frown I thought I had some stars in the sky till I realised that some of them were on the building. oops.

But more concerning. I actually quite like the blue tinge but of course it doesn't actually look like that.

I'd left the white balance on auto but clearly need to be making some adjustments here. But how should I best set the WB for night-time shots?

These were taken about 8:30 last night on an Olympus E-300 incidentally.

All advice welcome! Still very much learning...

Cheers-PBF

White balance does seem to be quite critical on night time shots if there is any artificial lighting involved (innevitable in or around towns I suspect?)

I like the shots - they've got quite an impressive dynamic range for a single exposure.
