How do you know your 'style'
Discussion
Hi,
I've only been taking photos a bit seriously for a couple of years but don't seem to have discovered a 'style' of photograph I prefer other than to take snaps - which frankly aren't worth taking when you see a good photograph.
It got me wondering how you got to find your own style, did it sort of come to you or did you make a conscious decision somehow?
It seems there are so many technical things to remember with every type of photograph, do you learn these for a good all-round approach, or focus on one type and perfect it (well, as best as I can) then take those lessons to the next type
Or am I over-thinking this?

You don't need no style!
Ah, the innocence of youth...Certainly it helps to be technically proficient before you can establish what your style is, otherwise you can't reproduce what you like.
A great picture that you got by accident is just good luck. One that you got because you visualised it beforehand and then did what was required to get it, is your style.
Don't get too hung up on it though - take lots of pictures, look at even more, and learn your kit. It'll come with time.
