Driving Gloves

I want a pair, and the more "Alan Partridge", the better!

Does anyone have any experience with driving gloves? Good ones, bad ones, ones to avoid..

What's the point in driving gloves? I can only understand wearing them in an open top car if it's cold!

I do drive with the top down a lot and suffer from cold hands (two seasons here in Scotland - Winter and July). I don't really "need" them, but think a cool Alan Partridge set of driving gloves would set me apart from the average motorist. Ahaaa!

Leather steering wheel + Leather gloves = more grip on the wheel especially in summer when it is hot and your hands get a bit sweaty

Not personally no, though depends what gloves you go for and what car you drive. 3/4 of our cars have so much steering feel that you would probably need boxing gloves to dull it

My lovely lady bought me some a few years ago from John Lewis. String backed with suede palms and they're great - not too hot in the summer and warm in winter.

back when i had my midget i saw a horsey shop closing down & popped in. black leather riding gloves are ideal for driving in. so thin its like your not wearing them, but they keep the wind off.

I got given a pair for Christmas by my Girlfriends Mum, suede on one side and leather on the other. Really nice gloves, but I've never worn them!

So I ploughed her Mum into a field, filled her pond with concrete, blew up her tree and used the leaves to make a dress for her wife who is also her brother!

I'm going out to buy the Alan Partridge boxset on DVD this week! Forgot how good it was!

I do have a nearly pristine pair of classic perforated leather with string back driving gloves but I found something even better for winter driving: suede faced, fingerless cyclists' gloves.

When i had a roadster, I found that I did need gloves.
Cyling gloves are very good in winter, but horse riders gloves are also brilliant, they are designed for good feel.

The Dunhill gloves have an option to have two of the fingers in Yellow or Red, so that when you have to give a "Salute", the person you are gesticulating at will be sure to know what you mean !!!
