With all of the traffic problems, would I be better of sailing from Liverpool or similar down to St Ives instead of driving the minimum six hour journey? How long would it take me to get there and what sort of boat would I need to do it on a monthly basis?

Hi,

Short answer is no. Long answer is f**k no.

Fast boats are very thirsty and, compared to cars, actually pretty slow in anything other than flat seas. Range is limited.

Sailing boats are very slow.

Weather is very unpredictable.

Get a motorbike.....or a plane.

Just thinking outside the box, or is that boat? I did imagine having spent fours hours at 60mph plus in a fast boat a rather hairy experience. I am glad it raised a laugh, maybe I should have saved it for tomorrow!
