You must look at the ages of the engines the engines from late 01/02 are now reliable the ones before were where the problems came from caused in the main by the faulty finger follower componets. There have also been some design improvements from then.
I personnaly don't know have any problem with the newer sp6 engines. I currently drive the 3.6 (7000miles) and previously did (18,000) in a 4.0l whihc did have rebuilds for the finger follower problems.
personnaly I prefer the torque curve of the 4.0l but the 3.6l is definately a better day to day proposition.

Most of that 40% are from people who owned the earliest cars. Out of a total of 104 repsonses (to the question asking yes / no to engine work), only 2 responses showed that engine work had been required on a Tuscan S. This gives an indication of the problem being fixed as the Tuscan S was introduced later on (the poll had no way of distinguishing between earlier and later standard 4.0 cars).
