Afternoon

My 1600M is without any sun visors, but has the holes in the trim to suggest it once had a pair. Does anyone know which donor vehicle I should steel a pair from?

A good friend of mine as a 1974 Elan +2 which seems to have the same fitting.

Any pointers would be great.

Cheers

All the fittings are similar to a Jag of the same period but the actual sunvisor is unique to TVR. It is fairly easy to open, say, a Jag a sunvisor, rebend the metal frame inside to the right shape and then trim and sow the plastic back over the frame. The foam in all original visors has by now turned into yellow orange powder anyway and is probably leaking out round the mirror. This will need replacing.

I've never seen the sun visors as the car came without them, but there are holes in the roof suggesting they were once there (a single hole per visor). The wooden blocks are still behind the headlining.

The Ebay items are late '77-on, 3 screw and as they were 'bent' to made them fit these tend to fracture and break, that's why they have rusted at the fracture points, apart from the fact those look foam dead! in need of stripping of the vynil and recovering, hopefully the sale price will reflect this. The early cars have Ford Cortina Mk2 units and come to match the headlining in cream/off white.
