Fire & Rescue Exercise
Discussion
Had an exercise here the other night aimed at showing young drivers the aftermath of an accident. Brilliantly put on, the victims in the car were local volunteers who all admitted afterwards that being cut from the wreckage was terrifying.
Got a few pics, all with D50 and 80/200 f2.8

See, much better in colour. B&W for portraits and other arty shots work, but I can't think of any action shots that look better in B&W. Odd isn't it, that the photographers of years back struggled like mad to do colour, and now we have it we can't wait to get rid of it? Not right in my mind.
This event was so succeesful they are planning to do it again in other town down the road, and I'm going to be shooting that one too.
Anyone got any tips to improve on these shots. Basically it is at night but with the benefit of one shed load of yellow light from the Fire engine flood lights.
All suggestions appreciated.

Hhhmmm don't like any of the B&W shots at all, although I'm sure they'll look good in colour. All the bright colours around, why get rid of them? Action + B&W doesn't work for me.
I disagree. I think there's something photojournalistic about the B&W shots and the bright colours don't really suit the seriousness of the situation.Interesting that the "victims" all thought that being cut out of the car was terrifying and they were wearing protective gear. Imagine how real vistims feel.
