TVRCC is it worth it?
Discussion
My renewal has come through and its time to send off another 30 quid. However being a tight bugger I'm forced to ask myself do I get value for money for my thirty squids. Now don't get me wrong I happily pay my £32.75 for my annual EVO subscription but when you compare EVO to Sprint there is a world of difference. As for the "other" benefits well what are they? Insurance? nope not since the great Independant fiasco. Regional meets ? Nothing there that PH doesn't give me with a greater variety and for free. The annual Back Home? No better than BT&P and no subsidy that I could see from the CC. Mania ? PistonFest looked better. So that leave LeMans camping? Nothing certain even there yes they get ticket for Houx but they sell out quickly and are avaliable from other sources for the same money.
So really the question is, is Sprint worth £30/year for a publication that is mainly written by contributions from members plus a few clasifieds and a monthly report on some Banger racing.
What do they do with the money? and on a slightly different tangent what are peoples feeling on the £5K given to Mr Caine for his LeMans expenses, nothing personal against Mr Caine at all, if I was lucky enough to be in his position I'd have been looking for sponsorship from everywhere, but it does trouble me that someone else made the decision to give him £5K some of which I worked for. (and yes I would still ask this if they'd done better)
Oh and before anyone really goes into one, yes I think I will show up to the AGM this year, it's just down the road and might help me make a more informed decision.

personally speaking - yes - renew - hopes are high for this year - more effort from all means greater things - watch this space
mania 2004 will be big!
add that to back home - le mans - meets - runs out and then PH on top and you get the best of both worlds
Oh and dont forget the mag
for £3 a month its a steal

C'mon Mel....the TVRcc is a community.....
The magazine takes a tidy sum to print and IS good value for money.
You try looking at other marques magazines....that's if the clubs actually print one for their members.
We did a swop with a TR owner and one of the Jaguar clubs magazines and boy, were the TVR mags better!!!!!...
There would appear to be changes at the moment, subscribe and see how you feel next year!!!
All, of course, IMHO!!!!!....

...//P// You own a TVR and are worrying about paying £30 a year!
As for Mr Caine, well I'm biased as he works at Castle TVR in Essex so yes in my view he deserved it! but don't think it would matter what driver they gave it to, the point was it helped support (if in a small way) to help the TVR cause and highlighted the TVR Club which hopefully will encourage more members to spread the word about this great British marquee!

are you really running 8 cars & bikes? - no wonder you need your 30 quid!!
Sorry I hadn't updated my profile for a little while, It's nine now so the need for the 30 quid is even greater
Anyway the question isn't really about the £30, it's about satisfaction in an organisation and appreciation of value for money. Maybe if I'd asked the question of were the Royal Mail justified in putting up first class post to 28 pence a few months ago the responses would have been different. Lets face it 28 pence is not a lot of money but I still feel short changed if it takes 3 days for a letter to get through, it's about value.
Oh and Deb yep thats a fair point you hussy you
I probably spent spent three times the 30 quid when we went on the piss in essex the other weekand certainly didn't get value for money that night
