Discussion
OK here we go, it's a photo of my Wagon so a car related comp this time
Do what you want with the following image but detail the techniques you've used. Make them as subtle or as outlandish as you want. Post various different versions in here for comments and critique, the main entry thread will be limited to one per person. Competition closes Midnight 31st March, I'll judge and post a winner as soon after that as possible. Winner then sets the photo and judges the April I competition, to end 15th April. Good luck everyone
Small version of the photo:

heres my offering. It was the first thing that popped into my head when i saw the photo!

Lots if layers on this one. Changing the colour to white was tricky- it kept looking like grey. But i managed it using levels. I wanted to keep some kind of reflection in the paintwork too. The harshness where id used levels pixelated the highlights a little, so i blurred them in places.
Gave Slimer some wind and motion blur, to look as if he's being sucked into the trap. The trap i had to alter to make it look like it was open- used mainly distort. The light from the trap was a simple gradient, blured at the edges to help it blend a bit better. Gave the trap a shadow to 'ground' it a bit.
Ghostbusters logo on car, I warped a bit to match the curve of the bodywork, and i used a blending mode (think it was overlay) and a little transparency, so the shine of the paintwork shows over the logo.
Finally, i used some lighting effects to give some blue to the light on the car, and an omnilight to suggest the trap is lighting the scene.
Im no pro, so its not perfect- hope you guys like it

Banksy!

Find Banksy image on Google
Resize original car image
Erase car background to reveal Banksy
Use overlay to let brickwork come through
Adjust saturation and hue of car
I did originally have the car life-size in front of graffiti with paint drips on car, but it just didn't sit right, and the Banksy footpath looks better.
Ghostbusters one - very good idea! I had planned doing a Fifth Element type taxi flying against a cityscape or a Harry Potter stylee flying car with Hogwarts train in the background, but they were both taking too long.

Expelius Exhaustus!

Couldn't resist this one
Add car to background, flip horizontal, add adjustment layer, reduce saturation (-50) and lightness (-90)
Add two layers for headlights, gradient fill shape, layers set to overlay, opacity 75%
Select car window frames, fill with white, add outer glow for halo effect from moon
Add rear lights same way, reduce opacity to 55%
Find picture of owl and head silhouette, resize and add
Download suitable font, type text(1), add hard bevel and stroke
Dab a few bits of fog using brush

1 Yes I know I'm missing an apostrophe - the font hasn't got one!

O.k only been playing with Photoshop for just over 2 weeks and thought the best we to learn would be to play along, Please tell me where I am going wrong and why mine looks so false

I think that the lighting has something to do with it - when you layer the background, play around with the curves untill it looks more natural...
