The nice man from Sainsbury's left us a bag of someone else's shopping this evening, I've called Sainsbury's and they don't retrieve cold or frozen food so we've got a free bag of veg, a boneless lamb shoulder and 250g of lamb neck fillet...

Aside from the issues of supermarket meat - we've got it now, it was free! What should I do with the lamb? it's not something I have cooked before...

BTW Sainsbury's flog this stuff out at £9.99 per kilo eek

put it in a pressure cooker or crock pot with lots of veggies and some soaked dried beans. (soak the night before and if using a slow cooker crock pot or pressure cooker boil them rapidly for ten mins then follow recipe)
cook slowly for a couple of hours crock pot low oven.
all day in slow cooker or 40 mins in pressure cooker.
rib sticky food.
not overly keen on lamb but now and then this is nice

That's what I thought, I don't think I pay £10 a kilo for rump steak from Costco...

Put a few cuts in the fillet, stuff with rosemary and garlic, season, wrap in foil, bake for 20-25mins. Lovely!

Made a lovely slow cooked curry on Saturday with ours - set it off about 2pm, went out to watch rugby and came home about 8 and it was perfect :P

Curry gets my vote!

1)Get a big pot and stick about a 1/4 of a cup of oil in there
2)Heat the oil and add some chopped ginger and chopped garlic and cook for 30 seconds
3)Dice 2 large onions and cook until golden brown (This can take upto 20 mins as they need constant stirring)
4)Stick the lamb in the pressure cooker for 10 minutes
5)Run back to the onions (wink)and once the onions start to turn golden brown raid the spice cupboard and chuck in what you like to get the flavour. (remember to cook each spice one by one and DON'T chuck them all in at once)
6)Get some plum tomatoes, blend them for a few seconds and then chuck them in the pot with the onions and spice.
7)Chuck the lamb in the pot
8)If the curry needs thinning, add some of the stock from the pressure cooker. If it needs thickening add some sherwoods Rogan Josh mix until you get a nice consistancy.
9)Stick some corriander leaves in the curry along with some tumeric and 2 chopped chillis.
10)Add some Garum Masala for abit of spice spice
11)After having cooked the lamb in the pot with the curry for about 20 minutes bung some Naan bread in the oven for a couple of minutes.
12)Eat! wink

The total cooking time will be about 45 minutes to an hour but the outcome is well worth it especially with such a tender cut of meat.

Lamb Pilaf !!! The ULTIMATE comfort food for when it's cold and miserable outside.

Ideally Slow roasted for 6 hours beforehand, then shredded and added to the pilaf afterwards.

I cooked a curry using this. I seared the lamb in a pan first & then cooked in a curry for a couple of hours on low heat in the oven.
It was AMAZING! So tender!
