Hi all,
Im just purchasing some new plugs from ford for the 3R and quoted the part no from the wiki Spark Plugs - Motorcraft AGSF32WM - 40thou gap. Ford came back with AGSF32FM are these ok? Not sure if the wiki is wrong, part no changed for some reason or just the guy at ford giving me wrong info? also do the 2.5 and 3.0L use the same plug? Any guidance would be great as i seem to have hit a dead end. cheers - Gar.

I have found no difference with FM and WM, it maybe some king of date code/batch code its the AGSF32 thats important. I did think the 2.5 were diff from the 3 but they are the plugs they gave me for the 2.5!

There is a big difference in the composition
http://info.rockauto.com/Motorcraft/sparkPlugs.htm
One is just Platinum-Nickel (FM), one is Platinum-Iridium (WM)
Iridium is ~twice the F melting point of Nickel (4500F vs. 2600F from memory) so if you can get WM's then it will be 'safer'.
If you believe the marketing hype, Iridium also gives "faster throttle response". Hmm....

My post wasn't meant to scare you.P-N has been used for years in turbo cars. P-I is IMHO a bit of a 'marketing' scam, but with a bit of factual science in place.
Ultimatly P-I will just last longer than P-N as the amount of I is very small. Assuming you kept to the 6K change intervals I can't really see an issue with P-N if that is all you can get.
