Santa Pod - Sunday 4th May
Discussion
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone fancies going to the above event at Santa Pod which is, more specifically, a 'Run What You Brung' public open day for street legal cars and bikes. Most of you are probably familiar with the concept but just in case you're not, you pay £30 (£10 is admission, £20 is your sign on fee) and can have unlimited 1/4 mile runs on the drag-strip between 9.00am-5.00pm - you simply queue up, make your run and then join the back of the queue for another go, simple. In between this of course you can watch others on the strip or take a wander around the pits etc.
Full details can be found on the web-link below - suffice to say you need a normal driving licence, an approved crash helmet and that's about it (helmet necessary for cars likely to achieve 100mph + and/or with soft tops - that'll be a double tick in the box then for many of you). You can also enrol for the challenge competition which as far as I can see is free and means you appear on the league table of times throughout the year and could even win £500 (last years winner posted a time of 7.7 seconds just before anyone gets excited ;-0)
It's worth noting that you can book in advance - a good idea if you're travelling a distance as there is of course a limit to the number of cars that can run on a given day. You can't book for the 4th May yet according to the website but I will post again as soon as you can. Additionally, I am happy to research some local hotel options for those who want to come down on the Saturday night and make a bit of a social out of it.
I gather there was a similar kind of outing in '06 organised by Austec as a 'TVR only' day - I'm not trying to replicate that obviously but I reckon it could still be a lot of fun as an open event.
Ok, enough detail for now - anyone interested??
Cheers,
Andy

Yep, I'll go, I've never been to one before & keep meaning to go to one.
Not sure if the boss will let me have another night out on my own though. She's already given me a pass for Le mans & the spa-ring trip, so I don't think I'll push it.
Happy to join up with a convoy from Brum or the NW on Sunday though

Folks - I apologise for not following this up with another post - the pre-book ticket option did not appear on the website and neither did the Pod seem particularly interested in replying to emails. I simply lost track of it in the end - sorry, no excuses!
I will research another opportunity and post again (and stay on top of it this time!)
