I have odd size wheels on my 4ltr chim. It is a very well looked after car that has never been molested and is on standard wheels.
I now need two rear tyrea for legal reasons and the front wheels rub on the body work every now and then so I was going to sort them out as well, but nobody can explain the wheel size difference-can any-body help on why and what tyre do you think I should go for, money not the issue, getting it correct is a must.tongue out

Should be the other way round: 15" front and 16" rear; maybe that's why they rub?

Or do the 16" all round like the last Chims had.

I had an M reg Chimaera on which the n/s wheel always rubbed on the battery box on extreme lock. I just avoided using full lock!

So, do I just swap them to solve the problem?

You mean you've actually got the 16s on the front and the 15s on the back? Oh dearie me, who last took the wheels off - Stevie Wonder or his slightly backward nephew?

Anyway, if you're not joking then swap them around PDQ - I can start to imagine how it would drive with the wheels on back to front.

edit: just spotted the biggrin... rolleyes disregard, move on, nothing to see here...

Yep. This should solve the problem. Although the last ones had 16" wheels on the front they had tyres of a smaller diameter than those used on the rear.

900T-R you were right first time: the OP only had the biggrin because he quoted me and when you hit the quote button it copies the smiley, or whatever it's called.

Thanks everybody. The car has even been to a main dealer and a few other work-shops and nobody noticed it was wrong and I have had the car 18 months!!

Dare I say it but check your pressures as well. Set for 22 front and 24 rear (or 24 front and 26 rear.)

Not much of a main dealer then (not that there are any TVR main dealers now anyway).

Just shows what happens when your car is entrusted to idiots, the kind of idiots who think it has a Range Rover engine in it...

Stevie Wonder must have lots of mates in the car trade, then...

Only reason I can think of having 16 on the front would be if it had a big disc kit and the disc's would not fit over the disc's.

Size is also less important than width and profile.

The Battery Box!!!!!!

More a steering problem there on that one 2 sMokin Barrels, the battery box is behind the outrigger chassis brace pipes, inside the passenger area, you sure you got the right place for the tyre rub????

Yea but you wouldn't put the 15" on the back yikes

The handling must have been transformed when they were swapped round...

You are correct, the early arrangement with the battery box above the fusebox and a big step grafted into the wheelarch, always seems to catch on the cars I have seen. Later cars with the battery box on the floor are considerably different in that area.
