Hello, to quickly introduce myself. I have been following the forum and the entire TVR story for a couple of months. Have been looking to realize an old dream of buying a Cerbera (4.2 or 4.5). However, did put it off in London as the offer to go to Dubai for 2 years came through. I said now or never and took it.

Driving 911s since 7 years, had a few doubts about the TVR's with the ususal reputation stuff. Finally drove a Tuscan and a Cerbera 4.5. And cannot resists the Cerb, amazing sound (it was de-catted) and a performance far beyond of the Carrera 2.

Now, it seems there are almost no TVR's in the UAE! There is one Tuscan in Dubai for sale since quite a while I hear.

Does anybody know of a car for sale here, e.g. expad leaving etc. or are there major reasons for not driving one here. I am worried about the heat and the fact I have not found a mechanic who could work on it..

Apologies, for stepping into the forum like this, but any input would be greatly appreciated..

Ciao
Andreas

PHer Nitro Cerb (has he changed his login name?) had to/is selling his Cerb as he now resides in Dubai and couldnt take his Cerb with him IIRC. Something to do with right hand drive cars not being allowed over there? (why that should be the case I have no idea)

There are a couple of LHD Cerbs, but they seem to reside mainly in Germany.

Craig's (aka NitroCerb) car has been sold, believe it now lives in Ireland.

Craig didn't take his car to Dubai because of registration difficulties as it is right-hand drive AFAIK.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Will look into it, but I think to have seen right-hand drive cars here. On the other hand, the law seems to change all the time in this part of the world.

The Tuscan for sale is left hand drive.. it is a 2005, great color, black on red leather, almost new with 3.000 miles.. Think they are asking about 30.000 pounds, but guess that can be driven down significantly..

Craig has changed his log in name to "Ron Fellows", he has bought a Corvette.
Last time i spoke to him he had the Fezza, and i think there was more to it than just the RHD issue with the Cerb, why not contact him and find out?

IIRC UAE legislation is based on TUV, so you may be better taking a car from Germany?

Still the Vette is AWESOME!!!!!! Just what a modern TVR should be. I may even take the Chevy badge off and replace with a TVR one for fun! hehe

Guys, thanks for all the replies. Did some more research. It is indeed a pretty big hassle to bring in a car from the UK, also nobody so far confirmed it is impossible. Overall there are not many left hand drive cerbs available at all.

Will be looking around a bit more down here, but if things are just to difficult guess will get a 911 again. In white they look great and fit the spirit down here. in 2 years i will then end up with a left hand in london. well thats fine.

Still any further input on car issues in the UAE etc. is very much appreciated.

Best
Andreas

Hi there

These guys here might have a lhd Cerb for sale:

http://www.bornemann-fahrzeugtechnik.de/

Ask for Mr Kleppe its his and is a yellow 4,5. But it probably won´t come cheap.
It also has a german registration so might be possible to register in UAE.

Cheers Jens

I know the feeling mate! I have one visiting from the States at the moment! You wouldnt like it though. All this Sunshine, sand, sea, waterparks, beer, clubs, beautiful company and fast cars. Its so crap really I'm seriously considering coming home. hehe

And before I take anymore flak I'm working on the tan ok! I'm scottish after all! I still look dark next to a normal scotsman. biggrin

I know this doesn't help find a Cerbera in Dubai but is does show there is life after TVR!

I promise not to hijack this forum any more scouts honour

Hi Ron Fellows.. like your post man. looks like life is not all that bad here.. have been getting a bit fed up in recent days here with all the visa stuff, driving liscense transfer, medical checks etc... but got it all together now and life is looking up again..

will search now for a hot car to get finally moving.. this cab thing is driving me crazy.. any good ideas where to look for sports cars.. seems the whole web car thing is somewhat underdeveloped in the uae as well..

in any event.. happy to meet up for a drink sometime at one of the expat venues in Dubai..

Ciao

Ello mate!

The best thing to do when looking for a car is to actually get yourself the autotrader magazine then go look at the cars. A few when I was looking were gone straight away but most of them will sit for a good month or so depending on what your after. I can recommend Reem Autos (Gary) or Exotic Cars. They helped the most. Even though I bought mine straight from the dealer in the end.

I know your pain trying to settle in here. I had some major headaches the first few months but its all GOoooood now hehe

You want to take a TVR (known for overheating) to Dubai, 50c in the summer! Are you mad? Not only that I am sure it would probably melt the GRP, maybe, possibly, potentially. Ok it wont but it will be bloody hot.
