The detail of those feathers, is amazing. Does he live in your garden? I can't believe he let you get so close.

You mean 70mm focal length I presume... otherwise you must have been disguised as a worm... or a girl robin... nuts

Remarkable pattern on its feathers.

Well done Martin. They can be quite tame little things. Lovely detail you've picked up. Jealous!

stunning quality from a 1000% crop wink

We've got a friendly one here but there's no way I could get that close with and get that quality! Excellent shot Martin.

Then your EXIF data lies!...

...like a cheap Naafi watch!!!

However, and whatever, it's a truly superb little shot. You couldn't show us a crop of what that feather detail looks like could you? Are you sure you're not just by the camera regurgitating worms for him or something - certainly you're holding his interest for him!

I'm sooooo embarrased...the 70mm and 12 inches related to this shot...

the first shot was with the 100-400 at about 4 feet redface

Martin.

it's amazing how much more three dimensional the second shot looks compared to the first. was flicking through a book on garden wildlife which had some shots of birds close up shot with wide lenses and flash, looked really different as were so used to seeing wildlife shot with massive lenses!
