I just noticed Jellison's LS6 Chevy powered Chimaera is up for sale in the classified. Can vouch from personal experience, both as a passenger and trying to keep up in my Cerbera, that thing is indecently fast with very little effort. While the AJP8 is screaming round the upper end of the rev counter that thing just purrs along at quite silly speeds. Quite a unique TVR, pity the factory never produced a similarly powered version.

Bet the drivers seat's a bit smelly. I'd want fresh leather under my butt!

More like the passenger seat! smile

That's the fastest TVR I've ever been in, properly built, and did I mention fast!!

Yep, along with what everyone else has said, it's a bloody amazing car and if only I had the money to buy and run it as a daily driver I'd buy it today.

ETA: I should have added that the only car I've been in that comes close to this acceleration wise was a 996GT2 silly

I've had the pleasure of going out in it on several occactions as a passenger and can honestly say it is one of the most mental cars I have ever been in.

That thing really is a monster!! silly

In terms of Bang-to-Buck ratio at that asking price, I know of nothing that comes close.

It's Fcensoreding LOUD too! hehe

To those who have been in it, how well does it handle all that power ?

The presumption being that the chassis was never designed to take all that grunt, and as a cruising car it would be fantastic, but really enthusiastic driving would make it a real handful ?

I know Jellison has done the dampers and brakes and I am quite sure a lot of other stuff to make sure it does handle, I just can't imagine what it must be like to have 400bhp in a Chimaera, and interested in other peoples views who have been in the car . . .

It's never easy to price a car like this, and there are 500's going for less than 10k on the same page, so you've really gotta want it for £22k.

The photos I have seen do justice to the quality of the car and installation, and I am sure someone will want to buy it.

Surprisingly well, I'd say you could easily light up the tyres in probably any gear if giving it enough abuse, but from my experience of Jon's driving it's actually a very good car all round and he's done the mods it needs to be a good car, not just a normal TVR with too much power.

Jon, how about my 5% on the sale winkrofl

I was thinknig the same but OTOH - not much difference in basic TVR chassis since the adoption of the Tuscan racer-style underpinnings, is there? A properly triangulated roll bar may stiffen things up to at least match the not-quite-bolted-to-the-chassis cage offerings on later versions...

On a related note - was it the Sagaris to get wishbones with a wider base than the earlier cars or was that a feature on all T-series cars or is my hazy recollection of stuff written mainly here, completely off?

Yes, it was the Sagaris; the upper mounts were raised as well by welding on a lug on top of the chassis. Sagaris only but whether it was possible(ie how much modification, if any) to build a T350c/t on a Sag chassis and whether this was done I don't know.

" . . . thanks to the basic suspension setup of the Chimaera. This is the point at which the current chassis setup (standard springs, dampers and bushes) can’t ‘cope’ with the power – it’s not a matter of strength, but of sophistication. With Jon’s experience of the car he revels in the wayward nature of the car at the extremes, taming it, riding it, keeping it in check as the car hits light speed in an instant. Jon intends to uprate the suspension over the winter."

Suspension has been upgraded since then I believe. Classified Ad states................
......Leda Suspended – New Dampers (valved by Abshocks to Gugliemi spec and custom spring rates (approx 30% uprated F/R) – Brilliant compromise for fast road /occasional track.

I've been thinking about this some more, I've not spent a great deal of time in Jon's car, however I've known him since just after it was done and he took it to LeMans 3 years ago (or is it 4 - I'm loosing track).

To my mind the car has all of the best bits of a TVR (Rawness, speed, uniqueness etc.) all turned up to 11 (being purple and loud and very fast) and all the best bits of a Corvette (reliability, serious torque etc. and so on) it just depends if that's something you want or not.

Now stick that in a Tuscan 2 and you've got the car TVR *should* have built...

However he says 'anyone wanting to drive it will have to BUY IT'. Are we expected to spend £22K without trying it?
