hi all

a quick question. we're going overseas shortly and i'm taking my camera in my carry on luggage. is there any problem leaving the CF card in while it goes through the x-ray machine - or should i carry it in my pocket and just let the camera be x-rayed?

thanks

I've never had any issues, with full cards x-rayed 3 times on one trip home.

It took more than cf card to get people suspicious last time i went on holiday, i had a compact camera, sony psp an ipod and my phone as well as the usualy extra memory cards, games and what not...made me take everything out and they took a swab and did some kind of test. Left me holding everyone up as i tried to get evrything to fit back in the bag neatly whilst the family stood there laughing!!! wish id just of had a camera and cf card then!!!!!

Unless you have drugs or chemical weapons in you cf card i doubt youll have a problem even if the do enquire about it.

I've travelled extensively in the last year and have been through more than a dozen airport security checks with CF cards for my MP3 and 300D in both my pocket and my bag - so they've been through the metal detector and the X-ray and haven't had any damage to the contents or the card.

I do carry the cards in their little plastic protectors though. Dirt in the connector pin holes would certainly stuff it.
