The GT has just come back from a rather nice spit and polish (and paintwork) from the people Ford use to do all the shiny stuff you see on the stands at shows. Top job it is too, and may thanks to them and Ford.

Before it all got messed up again I thought it was a good test subject for the new kit. Pleased with the results generally, but managing the DoF at F/1.0 is an art that's going to take practise. Also the 1Ds MK3 really shows up ALL lenses.

Straight out of the workshop

As new (the condensation goes once running)

Back home. You wouldn't believe how dark it is in the garage.

DoF.

Happy with the results all in all. It's obvious that F/1.0 brings a whole load of challenges with it, as I thought it would. Whilst the images aren't perfect wide open, to be honest they're better than I expected.

Shot 4 shows it soo much on the stripe smile

Will be a very steep learning curve. Lucky you lol

I suppose it helps having a very photogenic subject wink

Photos are good, i have just got a Dslr and am consequently learning so i know how you feel!

Forget about the photos for a second, that is a beautiful car that you own and what looks like a stunning garage to house it in.

Not sure all those pics benefited from such a tight dof, but I guess with a new hammer everything looks like a nail? wink

hehe Yeah. I got that lens mostly for its low light greatness, but it was always going to bring the tiny dof with it. I'm sure the novelty of shooting handheld at low ISO in seriously low light will subside at some point, and I'll move to more realistic apertures.

Assuming that the intention was to make the car look a bit like a model you've done a cracking job - great photos. If not - it looks like a model.

Yeah, it's one of the side effects of playing the tiny F numbers, so I thought in for a penny.... The strange thing is the scale confusion effect seems to be very subject and distance related. So much to learn...which is why I got the thing. That's the fun!

Great looking car.

Maybe you could have a go at focus stacking. Though wont work to well handheld.

Really love that shot smile

I'd love a full-frame dslr, but combining that with the fabled 50mm f1.0 is truly an awesome setup smile

Edit - forgot to say your car is alright as well winkbiggrin

Cheers.

Love the garage one, and love the car SO much. f/1 eh? Crazy talk. Didn't actually realise lenses could get to f/1... although that sounds stupid now I say it!

Yup, the F1.0 is great. The newer F1.2 is probably a bit sharper, but I thought if you're going to go for a big, or is that small F-Stop....

This was shot indoors at night with just a lamp over the table for light. Still shot at 1/500 sec at ISO100.

Even at 100% crop it's not bad!

Scary that the original shot is 5616 by 3744 pixels. Shot raw is 19.5MB. Glad CF cards have tumbled in price!

Lovely shots Phil, loving the way it makes the (beautiful) car look toy-esque.

Make sure you bring the f1.0 along to our next meet, (prob a finchy once the suns out properly), really interested to have a play.
