Focus on Imaging - saved money, sort of....
Discussion
It was a good day out, and to be honest one of the best shows I've been to for a while. Actual real deals to be had, not like the Ideal Home type crap you usually get. A quick run down :-
1) Eagle eyed Daisy Duke spotted 70p
which was less than half a cup of teas worth
2) @ 18:45 we won the who's going home first contest with the parking gate men and got out of paying the £8
3) I claim a record here for the shortest time owning a lens. Just under 2 hours. Bought a Canon 50mm F1.2 and was very happy with it....but as the show was closing I saw another one on a second hand stand. Bugger I thought, could have saved a bit there....then no, it can't be, it's the fabled 50mm F1.0! Very lucky it was the second hand arm of AJPurdy were the 1.2 had come from so they just took it back with me paying the difference.
4) Bought a 1Ds MK3 as they were giving them away (ok the same price as the Hong Kong eBay people). I now have over 21 million pixels to prove I'm rubbish at photography
So in summary. Up £8.70. Down £6,500. Ah well, you're a long time dead so you may as well make the most of it. Might be Tesco's value beans for the rest of the month though

(f1.0? That's just a cylinder of glass with the edge sprayed black)
I think it looking black is just an illusion due to all the light around it being sucked in.What's the aperture of a black hole anyway? Reciprocal infinity?

It's probably F something where the something isn't a real number...more the end of a word
It's going to be fun to play with that's for sure. The DoF is, erm, quite small at times as you'd imagine. That's the F1.0 not the black hole, where the DoF is probably very wide, but very very thin.

The trick is to set up at the event horizon - even flying objects stand still for ages there, so you can use a tripod and small aperture to increase DOF.beano500 said:

Now where was I reading earlier about an f0.75 lens - that's one-upmanship to extreme, isn't it? (Bjorn Rorslett, I suspect.....)Simpo Two said:

See, told you it was worth going!
Assume you blagged all the freebies too (we have Lowepro polar bears!), although I did get asked to step away from the ePhotoZine stand as I choffed on their sweets...

You have no idea how many bags of them we went through over the weekend and not a kid in sight.
Hope to see some of your work on EPZ now

Reminds me of the forward-thinking Leisure Manager at a Borough Council who had gone to the effort of getting some nice leaflets made to promote their new swimmming pool. Some time later he called in on the swimming pool only to find there were no leaflets on display. On questioning the staff he found they were hidden behind the counter because 'people kept taking them'...

Bought the EPZ* book, which was pretty good for ideas and learned some interesting stuff too.

- - well, the missus did and I still owe her the money for it as I didn't have any cash
