Original Alarm Fob Not Working!!!!!!
Discussion
You can get Carl's number from his web page: http://www.tvruk.tv/index.cfm
Hi Ian,
If you post a pic of the remote, I'm sure we could identify which system you have fitted. Either way and as someone else has already said, Carl Bakers your man if its F'knackered. Very helpful chap on the phone too.
Do you have the immobiliser touch keys to over-ride the remote (the car came with 2 when new) and do you have the red card (if Meta alarm) that makes programming new remotes easier?
I have also read on the TVR car club forum (numerous different people have posted) that if you disconnect your negative lead on your battery for 10 seconds and then re-connect it, the alarm is reset. Might be worth a go?
I see you are in the Midlands - I am in Birmingham if you want to pop round and compare alarms - it might be something simple.
I thought my 2 remotes were on their way out a while ago, but I have learned if I keep the button pressed for about 2 seconds, they work every time without fail.

Yes definatly try resetting the alarm/immobiliser by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, leave for 30 seconds ish and the reconnect. As soon as you reconnect, press the alarm fob button and all should be well again. Worked for me. I have a Meta system and the car is a 1997 400. Failing that, as has been said before Carl B is the man. Good luck.

So now ive got one that works ok does my original fob need reprogramming and if so how do you do it without upsetting the spare fob thats working ok or is it buggered???
Take a look here - I re-programmed mine some time ago, but the process is pretty straight forward.http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Ian, you need a working fob to program any new fobs you buy.
As above, speak to Carl and he will send you a couple of new fobs and you can then put the alarm into learn mode to make the new fobs work.
If, like me your last fob packs up you will need to send the complete alarm module to Carl to completely reset and reprogram some new fobs.(around 160 quid) So while you have a working fob get a couple PDQ.
Paul.

Yes its a Foxguard alarm ive found these instructions tried a few times but to no avail ill keep trying but has anyone had any luck doing it this way or is there another way of re synchronisation???
heres what i found......
Re-Synchronising Foxguard Alarms
Mar 96
Foxguard have found that a large proportion of returned F1-11 units are not actually faulty but simply out of synchronisation with the Radio Key. The F1-11 uses a random encryption antiscan grabcoding system. If the Radio Key is operated out of range of the car the key wilI transmit a coding signal but the receiver in the alarm will not recieve it. If this happens the coding in the Radio Key moves on but the unit will not. This will cause problems if the Radio Key is regularly pressed and released while out of range.
If the Radio Key no longer operates the alarm systern, try the spare one. If the system is operating correctly this indicates the first remote is simply out of synchronisation. It is possible to resynchronise the Radio Key:
1. Stand next to the car.
2. Press the left hand button on the Radio Key, the LED on the Radio Key will become solid.
3. Keep the button depressed for at least 3-4 seconds.
4. Release the button and immediately press the button again for 1-2 seconds.
The Radio Key is now back in synchronisation with the alarm. You may have to try a few times before the system will respond correctly, if you don't do step 4 quickly enough - the button need only be released for a split second.

The Foxguard F1-11 can store four remotes, if you have four stored already and you add another, the first one added originally gets replaced by the new one. In other words if you only have one/two remotes then you could try adding the one that isn't resyncing on again.
To add on a remote you need access to the programming button which is on the alarm module itself, which should be under the dash top, passenger side. PM me if you don't know how to do it and want to give that a go.
Make sure the battery in the remote is a full 12V before you do anything else, regardless of whether it is a new one or not.
For the record, the functions of the two buttons are the same as far as setting the alarm going. The only difference is the left button allows the alarm to chirp when setting if the function is enabled on the module, the right button is silent. Holding both down together sets the panic alarm off.
