REPLACEMENT TYRES FOR S3

I am about to replace my Bridgestone Potenza tyres and was wondering what would be a good replacement as the originals are no longer available. At the moment I am looking at Bridgestone Turanza ER 300 or Pirelli P6000. Any advice would be welcome.

I just got a set of the ER300 though the car is still off the road so no feedback available yet.

I have heard the nickname 'Ditch Finders' used about the Pirellis. Never tried a car with them on myself but you'll find many more people that hate them than rate them.

I have P6000's on mine and they are pants on this type of car. With a car weighing under a tonne you need softer tyres for grip and these are too hard. They remind me of some Avons that were on my Westfield and after 10k the rears still had 5mm of tread. When I fitted Yoko AR021's the grip levels was in a completely different league but the AR021/48 tyres are soft and designed for maximum grip rather than tyre life.

For what it's worth, I'm going for the ER-300's when I refurb my wheels. The young lady has them on her MX5 and they handle really well and have plenty of grip.

Have ER300s all round since last year and they seem just as good as the RE720s, with one important difference:

Good to hear they are performing ok , what profile do you have ?

Good news ! I have been running on 55's but keep bottoming out but was concerned that by going for a 60 tyre I might loose some road holding because of the softer tyre-walls.

Just put a set of Pirelli P7's on my S3. Very progressive, good in the wet and improved steering feel and ride. Speak as yer find

Just Fited Bridgestone ER300's all round on my S2 last week. Still scrubbing them in but did about 300 miles over the weekend with no dramas. Feel fine to me.

Did a bit of research using tyretest.com and have found the following, the lower the reading the better

Fitted a set of ER300s seems good to me but havent pushed the envelope as yet

I've put some B'stone ER300s on the S following the ratings discussion on a post a few weeks ago (Gerald has just put the details up above) where they came out the best, and whilst I've only done 300 miles or so I'm pleased with them and they were no more expensive (£61 per corner fitted with valve/balance at my local tyre place) than others which weren't so well rated at all. No brainer based on the data I think.
