Hi, I am in need of a tripod but im on a rather tight budget of £50 or so. So has anyone got any suggestions? As long as its not rickity and it wont topple over in a light breeze then im open to your suggestions.

Cheers
Dan

At that budget, the Slik range was recommended to me for the 350D. It's pretty reasonable quality - not too heavy but reasonably sturdy. The head isn't great - even a newbie like me has twigged that - but I reckon for about £60 it's not bad. Can't tell you the exact model off the top of my head, but you'd find by price I guess...

I enjoy a "slik" but at just slightly higher than your budget, unfortunately.

Also have a manfrotto at twice the price, but the slik is the most reliable, sturdier, and most used of the two.

A brand name much underrated, in my opinion.

I bought this one for my Nikon D40x..

Okay, not the sturdiest one ever made - but seems stable enough and had no issues with wind or anything?

I got my lightweight-take-anywhere full height tripod from Argos. It's done me proud. It's sturdy enough to use in windy conditions and it's full height (ok, so I'm only little but....).

7dayshop also have quite a good selection.

cheers for the advice guys, got my self a tripod from argos. £30 its full height and has spirit levels on as well as a quick release head and even a carry bag etc. seems alittle wobbly but im sure itll do me proud seeing as it wont get that much use anyway.

Cheers again

i got myself a slik pro400dx for i think £60 last year and it is great. very light, very sturdy and very easy to use.

it is probably a good idea to go to a shop with a good range of tripods so you can try a few and work out what you want ie how tall do you want it to go to? roughly what weight would you be happy to carry? any other features like legs that can be extended extra wide for a low tripod.

I got one for that budget from Calumet http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/
It's fine for what I need.
I'd have loved a Manfrotto http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto
but just couldn't justify the cost.
The Calumet is not great quality, but you get what you pay for.
It has spent quite a bit of time in the North Sea!
