A bit of a long shot but has anybody here had any luck chartering a boat for a day or so in Mauritius?

Thanks CAB

Not sure what your budget would be but it will not be cheap! We wanted to hire a speedboat for a few hours waterskiing and they wanted about £150 an hour.

That sounds a bit toppy i was thinking £100 for the day or so..... how elaborate was the power boat??

The place generally does seem a bit crazy when it comes to prices.... the hotels are just mad...

Have to admit that i am surprised that i even got a response!!

thanks CAB

Hi CAB,
I think you'd struggle to find a day charter for that sort of money in most places now. Me and two others chartered a Prout38 (38ft) cat in Turkey (which at the time was one of the cheaper destinations) and it cost the best part of £3k for 10 days, and that was in 2003.
I would imagine the less time you wanted the boat for, the more it will cost. I have no personal experience of Mauritius though and I'm just pressuming you mean sailing boat so if I'm way off the mark just ignore my ramblings.smile

there are surprisingly few pleasure yachts in mauritius... i'm no expert, but i presume it has something to do with the massive taxes on luxury items which must make them all but financially prohibitive.

Yacht or a some form of motor boat would suffice.

Hired a very elaborate rib in Capri last year - huge amounts of fun

From the boat dock at the Belle Mare Plage so probably inflated prices.
