I run a Holley 2-barrel 500CfM on my 3000S, with an adaptor plate for the inlet manifold.

Works for me...

I ran a Webber DF15 OK for many years, which I believe should bolt straight on to your standard manifold, If you go for a replacement Webber consider matching the manifold to the carb it'll get you another 5BHP for a couple of hours work.
How have you got to 3.4ltr?

I used a 40DFI, bolt on, but had it matched to the head as GAjon suggests.

If I was doing it all again today, I would consider a throttle body approach, as it could then be mapped as required, ie road map and track map. But it wouldn't be cheap.

Triple webers look nice though!

The Holley set-up fits nicely under the bonnet and you can choose from 100s of American-style air cleaners that use the 5¼ inch aperture. I use a Ford Motorsport one and there are no clearance issues.

I heard that 4-barrels are too big for the Essex and that triple carbs are for show, rather than for go.

I get about 25mpg on a run out, too, so that means I've used six gallons in the last two years hehe

Colin

Don't all your cars use more oil than petrol???

A.G.

Don't deliver more air/fuel than your exhaust system can cope with, IMO upgrading the exhaust will release more bhp on a tuned engine than a fancy carb, speak to GAjon for details

These are the manifolds Davidy is refering to, they do make a big difference, I dont know what the JP manifolds look like, but basically you need to get the primary pipes as long as possible, and preferabley as near to the same length as is practical.

John

AG,

Just had a thought, if your engine is one of those 3.4 V6's from South Africa, does that make it an Issix V6.wink
