Playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in the bulid up to GTA4

I have restarted the game which I completed according to my memory card in December 2004 in the build up to GTA4, should just about finish in time for the new game to arrive. Anyone else doing this? I remember how awesome this game was back in the day, and am looking forward how much better it will be with the power of the Xbox 360 behind it(or PS3).

Yeah, I spent months playing GTA San Andreas when it first came out. Might have to dust it off again to get some practice in!

After a nearly 4 year gap between proper GTAs (the "stories editions for GTA3 and Vice City, while awesome, don't count) I'm expecting good things.

dont have any history of paying on any consoles but had a play with san andreas
on ps2 . loved it. liked doing wheelies and burnouts.is there actually a purpose to this game? never ger bored of just driving all the different vehicles,ps get the cheat for everyone to wear bondage gear

Has quite a gripping and lengthy storyline, and the main villains are voiced by Samuel L Jackson and the late Chris Penn!

I picked up GTA/SA on the launch date, and must have played it for months.... Im about 2 missions from the end and have been for a couple of years.. I still play it but dont dare do the final few missions as I still want there to be a bit extra to do I quite enjoy the two stories editions

I found there was always loads to do even after finishing the main story, think I finished the story fairly quickly after buying the game, still took weeks to do though! Then you can concentrate on doing all the side missions after that, just don't seem to get bored of driving round finding new things to do.

He meant Vice City Stories, not the original Vice City.

Totally stuck on the mission where you photograph the guys coming out their cars going into the diner in SA, anyone got any tips?

Vice City had a much more coherent and attractive 'atmosphere' than SA.

Everything from the fake Testarossas, the clothes and the music channels, all entirely 1985 and Miami Vice all over again, like you were living there.

SA was a bit more eclectic. Not really into the hip-hop scene so didnt really relate and the different areas of the city all had their own 'feeling'.

Great game, dont get me wrong, but my interest waned just before I opened up the mock Las Vegas section when i got stuck on the plane testing missions at the airfield.

I've completed the game 100% once, completed all the missions 4-5 times. I even had to start again in order to find all the horse shoes, clams etc as they're not in the exact position it states in the book and there's always one that escapes you.

Eh? That's one of the easiest missions! The only thing I think you could be doing wrong is zooming in too much and missing a guy who appears a fair way off to the right?


I just downloaded this for pc - it's my first time through it completely, having dicked about on others xboxes etc. I love it!

I played it a lot for a while, I then got stuck on the Helicopter mission where you have to destroy the 3 trucks and then the off roaders. I can destroy them all and land but for some reason I still fail, I assume I must be just outside the time limit each time. Really infuriating!

Off the top of my head, you need to finish in 100 seconds, which is tight, but not impossible.

Get it done lad!

ETA: I keep going back to this game. I'm a fair way through it (done the Black Project - and quite a few missions after that). Frustrating thing about the game is you'll get completely and utterly stuck occasionally, and do a mission twenty times. That's the point I put it down, come back to it later and usually waltz through first time! It's a massive game, but I'm hoping that the next instalment will have a great storyline too, and interesting missions.
