took these yesterday.

it's the kitchen of an old cotton mill i work in. i think there is some really interesting stuff going on with the way the mill has been adapted as the economy has changed.

i'm not sure of the original function of this room but it's last use was a canteen for littlewoods mail order place. now we just make brew's there.

[

i'm considering expanding the project , i think there's some great detail in the pics.

so go on then...is this interesting or just art school bollards?

honest c&c very welcome.

This is very much the sort of thing that I did in year two at uni so it is quite evocative in that sense. Lovely light in that top shot - soft and pink.

I think that there is the makings of a project here. I'm always fascinated when I visit places that now have a totally different function to that for which they were originally designed, ie a former bank now a clothes shop, lace factory now a city apartment. I was in a bar on Granby Street in Leicester at the weekend called 'Turkey' and wondered what that used to be. It had a tiled frontage and wooden paneled interior with hooks on the ceiling.

set times to make tea? WTF? Is there set times to pick your nose too?

interesting shots though, I like them lots (especially the laddered tights one).

The third one is excellent.

It is almost voyeristic as you think there is something going on looking into the cupboard...

Until you realise it is just a room full of junk!

Only three cups a day, I couldn't survive the office on that, I'm on my 3rd by half nine!

Second one's my favourite - appeals compositionally.

For some reason it reminds me of a set a friend did of an abandoned hospital. Although there's no people involved, you can visualise them, if that makes sense.

there is some great signage in 2 that you can't read on the net :-(

barrel distortion is present and bugs the hell out of me. is it cs3 that can sort that out?

I dont have cs3 frown but a quick google reveals - Filter > Distort > Lens Correction

I'm sure i've seen a plugin that had a database of lenses and their distortions, so it just read the exif data and fixed the distortion without user input, can't remember its name though biggrin

"Bloody Marvelous" - I should think.

What's a bit of barrel distortion between friends? Actually I don't think it's distracting in this context....

I like this theme though. More please!

Its not quite what i was thinking about, but the RAW processing tool 'Bibble' does exactly that smile

In many ways a tiled wall is the 'perfect storm' for spotting barrel distortion biggrin

Nice shots, and congratulations on not going down the cliched Black and white noisy vinette route. That said...

Top shot my work with some VERY subtle HDR work to fix the blown highlights, maybe showing some detail outside.

Looks like the beginnings of a great project.
