Stupid cow pulled out in front of me this morning in a range rover. Hit it without much chance to brake after coming into road from a round about. Chassis and engine ok, but front fibreglass all shot, Radiator stuffed, front wishbone bent. Just spent months on the interior...

Main thing is i'm ok, just suffering a bit of whiplash.

Bum deal.

At least you're OK as has been said. Often easy to overlook the important things when these things happen.

You'll get it sorted.

Good to see the front end held up well anyway.

Thanks guys. Yeah, have to say i am really impressed how well the car took the impact. Must have been 20mph into the range rover's front wheel. Recon the range rover could be more damaged than the chim! I pushed it several meters across the road and oil pissed out of it. Must have done damage to the chassis on it. Looking at the chim it is only really fibreglass, front rad, front passenger wishbone etc. No engine or chassis damage visible. May still be written off though due to the cost of replacing front fibreglass moulding and a full respray. Will have to wait and see.

Cant see any problems with insurance since the other driver was crossing the path of oncomming traffic.
Jon.

Bummer station zebra. Sorry to hear of the stack. Glad you're out OK though matey. TVR's are very strong in frontal impacts thanks to the glassfibre, long nose with engine set well back and massively strong chassis. In fact given the choice of what to have a head-on crash in, something like a Cerbera would be very high in my list indeed, especially if it had a five-pointer in it.

Was me. At least i had it on the road for that spectacular day out last sunday after being off the road for 6 weeks undergoing interior modifications.

Chimjunkie,

I am so sorry to see that. Word can not express what you must feel. I hope the RR is accepting responsibility for the accident?

Jonathan, May be worth using an accident management company to not only take all the hassle away from the claim but also ensure a decent courtesy car etc whilst yours is away.
I've used a PHer 3 times now (anniesdad - Steve Greensmith) who runs www.europaconsultants.co.uk and can thoroughly recommend his services. Many other PHers including some Herts & Beds have used him as well.

Am with A-plan and going through Angel assistance. The RR denies any responsibility. Then again, you cant admit fault otherwise your insurers wont be happy.

I was with A-Plan who used Angel Assistance. Good service. The loan car was a bit ropey though.

I've used him - excellent service - call him NOW! Thought that for once I might beat Zippee to the recommendation, but he got there first yet again! Do you have some sort of accident-related thread alert system Tony?!!!

30mph into a tyre wall at a hillclimb did astonishingly little damage considering, and with all the safety gear including dads harness, no injurys what so ever... only unfortunate problem was that the aircon condensor cracked - rad remained fine, so we taped it up and it ran fine (albeit slightly less aggressively for the rest of the day) - still not painted the repaired fibreglass despite the incident being a year or two ago - but very happy with the strength of the car at the front atleast.

Chim, hope you get it all sorted to better than new spec, important thing is that you only have minor injuries hopefully. thumbup

very sad sight to see frown Those pesky 4x4 drivers mad

Sadly i fear that your car will be written off, although it would be a good buy-back! My old chim suffered a similar fate, so i took the opportunity to get the tuscan headlights.

Thanks again, No witnesses hung about. I'm hoping it's a clear cut claim since the other vehicle pulled across into traffic. I hit the front wheel of the vehicle so that says it all. If i hit the back of the vehicle then i should have been able to stop due seeing what the vehicle was doing? Had no time to do anything really. One of those moments when you go through the "she's going - surely not - brake - bang!"

Would like to take the opportunity to do a light conversion. Would have to speak with repairers to work this one in and pay extra costs etc.

Sorry about your Chimaera & the whiplash but glad you stepped out with nothing too serious.

With all the work I've been reading about lately on your car, you must feel really gutted. I was really looking forward to seeing that one on Sunday. Best of luck with the insurance & whatever you decide to do now.

Catch you one day.
Cheers,
Mick
