Ok, so finally a release date of next month has come around, but i'm a touch confused....

Will there be a regular Gran Turismo after the "prologue" or is this going to be the real deal?

sadly i'm too excited for a 25 year old

Prologue is just a taster for gt5, kind of a very advanced demo. The full GT5 will be with us at very best Christmas but my guess is spring next year.

Theres a good overview video of Prologue here http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30396.html

If you liked the previous games you will love this one. It's MUCH harder than the original games though (which is a good thing in my eyes)

is there really a release date of next month confirmed!?!?!?

from what source?

gamesindustry.biz still has it as "TBC - Q1 2008"
...which basically means very end of march, but likely to be delayed

Latest I'd heard was the end of April, much like the full-fat Gran Turismo it seems to suffer from more delays than a British Rail train.

It's not out in the US until April 17th and we're usually a while behind them, so May-June doesn't seem unreasonable.

yeah... don't rely on Amazon..

they've been known to put release dates up for games that aren't in production! wink

Yeah there not that reliable but Game have the same date, don't see why there should be another delay as it's already out elseware.

Game, Amazon, Gameplay etc all have estimated dates, or the date that has been touted, but Sony said in late January that they hadn't officially confirmed it for the 29th of March and not to expect it on that date. As already mentioned, America isn't getting it until April and we won't be seeing it before them.

Seems we get extra content for the Euro release, extra game modes, more cars and the ability to do some degree of tuning. Not bad for a so called demo, have to laugh at the amount of skylines in it though!

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Additional Features for Europe:

Drift Mode – The player’s drifting technique is measured based on drift angles, racing lines, and speeds within evaluation zones located at various turns on the course.

In Depth Car Tuning – Players have the ability to adjust the vehicle’s performance, including power, tyres, suspension and the ability for quick tuning whilst racing.

Two-player Split Screen Racing – Allows players to race head-to-head offline.
New Race Events – Online racing fans can join in on a new set of scheduled events and time trials.

I thought the prologue demo was much improved, or are you talking about the free GT hd download.

The one with the 8 or so cars, basic versions and tuned versions and 1 track. It also had some drift thing?

Do you mean the GT:HD demo on the Euro PSN or the GT5:Prologue demo that was on the Japaneese PSN?

If you mean the former, then yes. The GT:HD demo uses an evolved version of the GT4 physics engine, where as GT5:Prologue has an all new professional mode cool

How much has changed from the Japanese demo? I've played that and I wasn't really that impressed. I still don't see a need to buy a PS3 until the full game is released, and PD have proven time and time again they can't make deadlines.

If the physics hadn't move on from gt4, matched up to those graphics it would still be a must buy for me.
