Hi,

Ive got a T4 VW with the 2.5 TDI unit in, i think its the same basic unit as the rest of the 2.5's that are used in a lot of Audi's VW'. When i bought it the turbo used to kick in around 2400 rpm, since then and around 15 thou later it now kicks in around 2350 i.e. earlier. I dont know anything about turbo's why is it doing this, is it an indication of a component wearing somewhere if not the turbo itself.

Could be the fact that the ambient temperature is now cooler in the winter thereby giving a denser charge to the engine, your turbo is working more efficiently and effectively.

Good point, although its been going toward the 2350 over a period of time, gradually decreasing.

If your turbo wasnt working correctly and wear was creeping in you would feel the boost coming in later.

Maybe a boost/waste-gate problem, i really cant tell from here but to be honest i wouldnt worry too much about the difference in 50rpm
