Does this work?

I think it would be improved by cropping the photo such that the reindeer is in the centre. To me a vignette is supposed to focus attention on the subject and as such the background should be darkened.
Just my opinion.
Would need to be careful not to crop to too tight on the right though - you need some space for the deer to be "looking into", imo.Just my opinion.

I see what you mean - does this work better in your opinion?Just my opinion.

Sorry for all the deer pics - have a newish lens and have been practising...
IMHO - If you are taking a photo of an animal or bird (or insect come to that matter), it works either if you get the whole creature in, or a close up on the head/significant parts. I'm not quite sure why you've chopped the deers feet off in the top photo - with a bunch of empty space over it's head?
As I say IMHO. Perhaps a closer crop of head and antlers?
BTW - I like the vignetting - works well I think.
