Hi guys-

I'm looking to buy an R8. Thought it would be a new 997 C4S, but in the end I think it'll just have to be the Audi. Thje car is so fresh and so amazing to drive....

My question to all of you is: what about the latest state of premiums payable on R8s?

I still see plenty of people out there trying to get away with a minimum £5k over list, and some jokers even try as much as £10k over - but only two days ago a London Audi dealer offered me a brand new, unregistered R8 - arriving in 12 weeks - for list price. That's it - no premium at all. And I also noticed someone trying to sell a new R8 on Ebay for a £5k premium - and they got exactly zero bids for it. Now it's relisted for £4k over list, and so far no takers.
So what's the consensus view out there - have premiums really come to an end? Or should you still expect to pay £2-3k over list for a new car? What about 2007 cars with over 1k miles on the clock?

I think you may have answered your own question. If it was me I would go for the dealer one, you can spec it to your own choice, brand new and unregistered and full Audi back up and all at list price. To me that is a no-brainer.

The premium market for the R8 is now over ,as all the dealers demo's are about or just about to be released onto the market.
I even contacted a dealer about my car just to see what offer they would make for it ,they didn't even return my call
Buy the new one and make sure you can spec it right, ( i've over specced my car ,but as i am keeping it i don't care to much about resale value )double check it with the R8 team at M.K to make sure .

i was also told that the market will rebound in the late spring/early summer, but it all depends what the world wide market is like for the car ,as if a few markets go quiet Audi could push more car here .

Audi uk have about 800 orders already for the V10 launch mid to late 2009

good luck it's a brilliant car ( roll on the 3rd of march)

The R8 team are a special group of people only dealing in all things R8 at audi milton keynes head office
these are the ones who the dealers speak to and put the orders through to germany
they are Bev ,mike and kirsty all very helpful
tel 0800 554433 or R8info@audi.co.uk
give them a call and they will know if there is a cancelled order at your dealership

Only suggestion would be to get the carbon pack in the engine bay as there is a wide black box in the engine bay looks totally out of place and much better when in carbon. Premium wise dep on whether you can wait or not i think. As you say you will have a 12week wait after oredring where some people want tje car on the day.
If you can wait then def go for the audi purchase at list.
Its an amazing car each time i see one i notice something something new.

Carbon engine bay looks lovely... but £2.5k just for that?? I mean, my name isn't Croesus after all, and regrettably my head isn't on a coin....??

I think that tells you a lot about values of the V8 version late next year. The premium market is indeed over - trade bids are below list now (incl options).

This is interesting. I have a deposit for Dec / Jan 08. If deposits start getting cancelled that'll be good as leadtimes will hopefully fall.
