I don't understand what is wrong with this, apart from being the wrong brand for this forum?

Quite impressed that Nikon emailed me about it on the day the press release came out.

Did I say anything was wrong?

After the D3 and D300 the D60 is just a little underwhelming , no? And pricing it to compete with the 450d seems plain daft.

I think it's fantastic. Nikon are to be admired for the products they're currently releasing, and the way they're going about advertising them.

D3 + tilt shift lenses = excellent news

Canon, WAKE UP!!

1Ds 3 owner.

150 Euro price difference is quite big at this end of the market surely?

Uh how many TS lenses do canon have, 2 or 3...

D3 is doing what the 5D did nearly 3 years ago.

And the 16-85 lens is what, the same as canons old 17-85 ( speed, sharpness etc)?

I'm not sure the D60 will compete against the 400d let alone the 450d.

lol show me some nice 3200 iso images on the 5d.

Can't believe you are drawing comparisons between a brand new 3.5k pro camera and a 3 year old one where everything else was compromised to pay for the sensor.

lol. I'd have a 1d mk3 if I could have afforded it wink

Shame it all gets a bit partisan when discussing models that happen to be from different brands.

I doubt it, my mum says mine has great low light performance regardless of whether he's newer!

I sort of see your point of view. I don't feel I need to even browse the spec to know I won't like it. Which is a bit sad of me, I know.

I really don't want to be put off Nikon by finding out it's lacking in 25 perfectly useful features only to find it has one program that does something completely useless like tell you where the nearest fast food joint is. The D3 and D300 look so spectacularly good news for the big "N" that I just fear they're going to blow it hehe

For the avoidance of doubt I'm a committed Nikon owner and the D60 is a fine camera. Probably. But I'm not sure they've got their model branding sorted... when I bought my D80 I wondered briefly why there wasn't a D60 - after all there had been D50s and 70s both with AF motors in the body. And now up pops the missing model - without a motor in the body.

Be interesting to see what the D80 follow up is branded as - or maybe they'll just run three DSLR product lines rather than the four they have now. Consumer (D60), pro-sumer (is that really a word? D300), and the pro stuff (D3) and drop the D80 line?

The Fuji S5Pro has had it for some time (and it skips from face to face in a group) but I agree with DanH, the image on the rear screen is just too small to trust if what you are seeing is really sharp where you want it.
