Woody posted a link on the TVRCC forum to a product on Frosts. Looks interesting but I'm always wary when power tools are involved in prosesses as I think it's easy to end up with more damage than you started off with. frown

So has anyone used that product or have any other recommendations for getting windscreen wiper scratches out of your glass?

as far as i know they are impossible to remove completely.
we tried on a vintage lorry using every technique, powertool and product known to man..no joybanghead
if they are very light a professional window polishing machine may improve/remove them but this product does not look very professionalrolleyes
sorry to be the bearer of bad news ,hope im wrong

Jeweller's rouge should take out fine scratches, which is probably the product in this kit, but for really bad ones I reckon you should replace the screen...

The former owner of my chim seemed to think it was OK to run the wipers with the blade knackered and the metal part rubbing on the glass rolleyes So to try to get the deep scratch out I bought said kit from Frosts. It did work somewhat in that the scratch is much less noticable than it was but it would never have completely removed the trench I had. So if your sratch is not too bad it may work for you.

Yes, it's impossible to remove the deeper scratches completely but I have used a similar kit from Machine Mart with acceptable results.

Worth a try at £20.

Or try you local Glasweld operator, they seem capable and well trained.

Ive had pretty good results from Jewelers rouge made into a paste with water,(from my local windscreen company FOC) combined with a drimmel and its soft polishing wheels. (you will need a few).Takes some time however.

I tried using the Frost product yesterday, it says on the instructions dont apply it to one area for more than 20 seconds, I kept to this rule, I also stopped when it started "smoking" yikes thinking it must be working now!...but looking at it all when cleaned off, there didnt seem to be any difference, apart from my griff being coated with speckled white water! I also stopped at a mobile windscreen chip and repair outfit, he says he couldnt do anything with it. Oh well, guess I can live with it!

Yes I've used the Frost kit on light scratches and it worked very well although I must admit I was a little scepticle before hand.

Most insurance companies will offer windscreen replacement for an excess of about £50-£60 with no effect to your no claims discount. Its a bit drastic, and Im not sure I could ever bring myself to doing it to my own P&J, but one brick to your windscreen and you can have a brand new one for the cost of your excess.

Scratches can be polished out completely by somebody who really knows their stuff as long as they are not really deep.

I used a company called Glass Aid. They came out and removed a nasty scratch from my Sagaris windscreen absolutely perfectly. Speak to David on 01933 676037 (Wellingborough). It was not very expensive.

There are probably companies nearer to you that offer the same service.
