Typical, you go on holiday Ted and those cheeky buggers at TVR nip in and release a new engine variant!

I believe Alans is referring to the Supercharged 440R lump. Christof has just ordered one... You cant keep a good man down!

The standard T440R but with an option of a supercharged 4.2 engine - anything up to 110bhp more power .

Still only a possibility as factory will need to carry out feasibility studies, tests and the like. Probably 1-2 years (or longer!) before we see it in a car.

IMO I would think the name would change to whatever bhp it represents in the final model (T500R, T520R etc) - it might not be 550bhp.

Supercharged speed six engine......hmmmm sounds nice. Doubt it would ever come to fruitition as they are having enough problems with the standard engines, let alone a supercharged one.

I think the Idea came from Brian at Dreadnaught Garage (TVR Scotland) who S/C's Range Rovers and did the original Haughin 350SX design. He sorted the Speed Six Throttle body/off idle issue so is close to TVR. I doubt TVR would do it but Brian may be given the "okay" from the factory. He said 550 would be easy!!!! He's not known to be wrong
Cheers,
GB

I thought the published Speed6 bhp figures were pretty much spot on?
It's the V8s that were exaggerated.

So it's looking a possability that they could bring out a 550BHP Tuscan in the near future. It wouldn't matter if they did claim it had 550BHP but only had 520BHP would it?

Just thinking... if TVR do manage to squeeze 550bhp from the 4.2 engine scheduled to fit the T440R... that's over 130bhp per litre! Surely some sort of record.

for a forced induction car? No where near. Honda manage 120bhp per litre n/a, caterham's r500 manages 127 bhp per litre again n/a.

even something like a mitsubishi evo FQ300 manages 150 bhp per litre with a turbo so the more exotic things will be well above that.
