this is my second time in a month ive had my mini tuned, the first time (as youve probly read in my previous post) it got totaly f@'>ed up, she was drinking fuel like a thursty beast in the desert and was running as flat as a fart. this is how he left me £100 later:-
At idle
co vol - 6.829 this should be between 2.000 and 3.000
at 2000rpm
co vol - 0.195 at this point i was running on fresh air .

this is the printout for the first set up

As you can see not too gud only 51bhp and i was expecting atleast 60bhp and the torque reads at 70 lbs.
I went to "the mini specialist" in erdington birmingham (web site on pic below) he was a great guy with lots of expierience he fixed these faults almost instantly, he reduced the CO vol at idle to 2.300 or there abouts, cleaned the carb and replaced the needle for the correct one and replaced the dashpot piston for a new 1. he done 6 runs and this was the out come

its improved the ride extremly well no more "hunting" whilst above 3000rpm and rather than doing 50mph in 3rd gear its closer to 70mph. although shes still not as quick as i would like her to be she now has a great pull out of corners which is somthing i have not had since buying her in
dec 07. the smile on my face is a little bigger now, and to hear the sound of her exhaust as i come through the queens way in birmingham was awsome, 5000rpm in 3rd i could feel the bass in my belly as she roared through the tunnels. wooooow my mini is finaly fixed (for now) time to enjoy it for a while until nxt winter when i take her of the road for a overhaule. thanx for all your advice guys but just 1 more question, how do i make her go faster......neale........

its a standard 1275 engine with stage 1. but apparently my mini is a bit of a oddball, it had some parts for injection but they didnt get round to injecting it they fitted a su carb. My mini was made when rover decided on making a economy engine so unfortunatly i got the lowest powered engine of the 1275s. shes still a nippy little thing but needs more get up, but i dont know wot to put on her to give it that off the mark pull that i want. what do i do? She goes real well in 3rd and 4th but 1st is too short and 2nd gets to 50mph at just under 5000rpms but seems to drag a bit gettin there.

Dogfather - the motor you have is the (originally) 53bhp 1275 fitted to the Mini sprite. If I'm right, and you've modded the head to go with your stage one kit - the next purchase for you is a set of 1.5 ratio rockers. Have you changed the stock HIF38 SU carb for an HIF44? By increasing the valve lift, not strangling the motor with an 1.5 inch carb, your 1275cc motor will happily run to 5500rpm and get there much quicker. Just for reference, this is exactly what I did to my Mini Sprite and that little rascal went like stink!
