HELP... I have purchased a 2000 Cooper Works Ltd running a coil-over suspension and beam rear. It has GAZ shocks with black springs all round. the problem is it is tracking all over the road and is nervous to the point of dangerous.
Presently its set at 10 clicks from softest on the rebound damping (all round) and the springs are wound up so that 6cm of the adjusting thread is showing at the bottomn on the front dampers and 7cm on the rear.
ITs running 13/8 offset (deep dish) Mini lites with spacers with 175/50 Yoko A539 (quite worn) but, I'm about to fit a set of standard (13 / 6) Mini lites with 175 Bridgestone Potentzas. Although these are the same size tyre the wall hieght seems better due to the 2" reduction in rim size.
Am I better to ditch the spacers and just accept the tyres dont fill the arches or does fitting them not affect the sability?

Since fitting my 175/50/13 yokis onto my new bigger alloys it does take its own path at time to time due to the dips, bumps and cambers in the road, but i would not go as far as to say its dangerous as long as your holding the wheel correctly at the time but 8s are very wide so you never no they cuold affect you in some way. I think you may need to check your tracking, wheel balanceing, alignment and your wheel camber cuz somthink dont sound good mate.

sounds like the tracking is out or the subframe mounts at the back of the front subframe could be gone
i had mine going all over the road for both of these it was like it had a mind of its own

Those ultra-wide wheels won't be helping the situation at all, going back to the "standard" 13" rims should help significantly, but minis with 13" rims always tend to be a bit nervous IME.
