I know that eggs are used in fining some red wines (it removes general crud and solids after fermentation) however I don't know if it is involved in making white wines. Anybody out there know the answer? Thanks!

I can't find definite proof by finding an example that does use egg whites. However I can say:
  • White wines do require fining, just like reds.
  • It appears that the preferred fining material for white wines is bentonite (a clay).
However, it does appear that egg whites can work, and may be used by some.
