Recently ive looked into the possibility of either changing the Sagaris or going down the road of upgrading the engine.
Ive spoken to another pistonheads member whos supercharging his S6 with jason clegg, so thats one option and ive spoken to Topcats racing about a potential LS7 or LS6 / 2 upgrade which would give a reliable 575bhp or 450 bhp respectively and big torque improvements over the S6.

Questions i have are :-
If i went the LSx route come resale time how resaleable would the car be

and

How much would a Sagaris engine with 5k on it be worth

Not sure of the value of a Sag with a non TVR engine, but you would certainly reduce the number of potential buyers, if it was modified.

I would guess a private sale in the order of GBP 35-38K?

Why not keep the speed six power plant and when you are ready to sell get brian and warren to put it back in.

Was the Triumph Stag worth more or less with a Rover V8?
I would say if you put a clit engine in, it probably would make the same money if it was done properly. You would never get your money back as that project would more than likely cost £15,000.00.

Your redundant SP6 is worth £1500 to £2000, the mileage is irrelevant, unless your warranty it!

I would say the S6 engine is worth much more than that . Rebuilders have been paying the figure you mentioned for blown ones especially seeing as the one mentioned should have the latest block ! I would have said £4-5000

They will want to try and sell it on for that but you wont sell one privately or to a dealer for that I am afraid. The condition and mileage is all a maybe once its out. Trouble is to many people keep writing there cars off so there is a fair supply of engines floating about. I have 3 sp6 engines, 2 up North and 1 in the garage and they are a 2001 4ltr, 2004,3.6ltr and a 2005,4ltr

New block....? please elaborate.

car looks well in sprint by the way.

It seems the filthy peasants out there are much happier with their engines than the sqeaky clean aristocracy with their speed sixes. The AJP does have a couple of small advantages, it works for more than 10,000 miles without spitting its internals over the road being one advantage and more poke being the other. Looking at the history of the speed sixes I dont know how anyone can even think about knocking the AJP8.

Mildly tuned LS7 in a Sagaris is something dreams are made from. I planned it as my ideal TVR, not that it's going to happen for me frown Well not for a while yet.

Putting a big V8 in a Sag may not be everyones cup of tea, but I think you'll find quite a few buyers for one when you come to sell smile
As said previously don't expect to recover your costs, you won't and you'll get a lot of stick from the purist brigade out there.
But it's what I want to do myself when second hand Sags become cheap enough for me, so go for it thumbup Bagsy first refusal when you come to sell it smile

The Latest blocks have a revised inlet by the oil filter which is less of a restriction and they have a restricted flow to the jackshaft to aleviate problems with no1 crank bearing . they also have more meat cast into the maincap stud area and longer studs .There is also an additional pillar to mount the aircon pump further forward for the supercharged version .
Thankyou for comment on car , David

What about the Wilder Hurricane motor? Supercharging is a compromise whereas a turbocharged Speed6 would mnake for a devastating piece of kit!

My guess like others here is that it would cost you 16K to have an LS in your Saggy .. and the old S6 would sell for 4~5K privately..

Re-sale is tricky ..

Many have said they would prefer an LS in a new TVR .. guess you would be one of the first to try to re-sell one .. my guess is the right buyer would pay the same money as the car is currently worth - if the motor is high tuned - slightly more..

I'd go for it..

A Sagaris with a non Sagaris engine, in my opinion, could cause a drop of its value!!!

I've been told by an expert who sells them that the Speed Six engine has already itself some chances to be upgraded.

Ciao!

?? are you saying that the speed six engine has room for improvement ?
On the subect of fitting an LS engine into a speed six car I am sure it could be done for about 10K if you kept it to the 400 hp LS2 which you can buy new for £3,800 plus vat . Would it drop the value ? I doubt it .
