Video to DVD

I have a VHS Video that I need to transfer to DVD.

I have a Video player and my lap top has a DVD writer thingy.

How do get the Video to my lap top? Is there a special witchcraft type lead that will magically do it all for me?

Or is it cheap enough to get a company to do it?

I used a conventional VHS player connected to our DVD recorder, though bog standard phono cables.

If you're stuck, and if you'll cover the P&P costs, I can do it for you.

(Provided the video is not 'Gentlemans entertainment', dont think the missus would approve of that lol)
