Facelift Mondeo's
Discussion
Anyone an authority on Mondeo's, I'll try to explain my problem and would be very grateful for some pointers.
I have been using an Automatic Mondeo for towing a race car to meetings, something which I am told I should never do as the auto box in this car is very marginal even for just a full car load. Heading for Oulton on the M40 it suddenly erupted in a cloud of smoke with the engine cutting itself at the same moment.
It was duly recovered and I am now trying to repair it. The smoke seems to have been caused by a gasket blowing out from a front to back seal in the transmission, but I am still unable to start the engine.
I noticed as the car stopped on the M40 that the small red light in the middle of the dash which is connected to the immobilizer/alarm was flashing quickly. This is still happeneing after the ignition has been turned on for about 3-5 seconds.
I have tried the methods of re-setting the immobilizer with the key, but with no progress.
Can anyone point me in the right directiom?

Sounds like the immobilisers stuck on to me! I cant remember the procedure for disarming/reprogramming the thing either now....been out the game too long.
If the little light is on/off i think youll find that it is the immobiliser bob.
Have a word with your local friendly frord dealers....
