Folks

I've got a 350D and I'm playing with exposure and aperture settings whilst I'm learning. Is there any way that I can hook the camera up to my laptop so that as soon as I take a photo, it will appear on the PC instantly? I usually use Picasa to import and manage my photos, but I do have all the Canon software installed on the PC. I can't see that this will allow me to do this, but I might have just missed something

Thanks in advance

This can't be done with the 350D. The 40D does it, but that's not much help.

Bugger - that's a shame! Not to worry - it's not the end of the world

Thanks for the quick reply!

im sure you do something similar as I have done this with my 350D!

Plug in the camera and click the remot shooting thing

then snap away and the photos upload straight to the PC

It can certainly be done with a 400D so I imagine you can do it with a 350D as well...

hmm, thinking about this it could be done if the 400D does it. I was thinking you wanted to see what you were shooting live on the laptop. The 40D has live view which allows you to see on a computer exactly what you can see through the viewfinder.

OK a 400D can't do that. Using the Canon software you can shoot in tethered mode and dump the images shot live to a folder. Then all you need is software than monitors the folder...

Ok - there is some software called CameraWindow which is on the Canon CD, but this seems to be a bit flaky under Vista. However, this software seems to work:

Does what I was hoping - allows you to control exposure etc. and instantly shows the resultant image. Only problem is, it seems to crash when running certain aperture/exposure combinations frown
