I could not see who such a small company like Dare could justify paying the prices they would have to for a stand at the show.
You obviously didn't go to the 1998 British Motor Show then? Long queues to get onto the Dare stand when they launched the DZ.
Can't remember how many cars were on the stand now, silver G4 coupe, green DZ, silver DZ, blue gullwing DZ, a silver G12 - think that was it?
Didn't make much difference though, as some mainstream press write-ups were sh*t, almost as if Dare didn't exist. Independent mags gave a totally different view.
Lotus launched the 340R at the same show, in fact their stand was only yards from Dare. I stood there while the covers came off the Lotus and listened to the whimpering and polite applause.
Ironically a month or two later when I was driving the green DZ back from London on the M40 I passed a 340R as if it was stood still (mind you I was cosy and warm, he looked perished!).
That green DZ was a superb machine.

Now resides in the US, but truly spoilt by silly chequered decals.

Well: No Dare at the show but Ginetta stand was there and heaving with people. G50 looked great.
Maybe they are at the Kit Car shows? You have to show the cars somewhere????
I gather that Ivor was at the show on Thursday, answering questions on the Ginetta stand? I do know that attending shows is hugely expensive, and I doubt that the benefits of attending the AI show would justify the cost for DARE. There were a number of prominent UK racing car manufacturers who did not attend so, if there is no real benefit for them, why would DARE need to be there?Maybe they are at the Kit Car shows? You have to show the cars somewhere????
The G50 impressed, although it was a little disappointing to find what was in all senses a 'mock up' on the Ginetta stand. The body of the display car did not arrive at the factory until Wednesday..... There were at least two other G50s on other stands, and two running cars in the Live Action Show (although they did very little other than deliver one over-rated female personality and a bloke who looked like he would be more at home at a darts tournament to the stage....)

Erm it was Louise Goodman and the legend that is John Hindhoff!! He _is_ Mr Motorsport - especially well known for the commentary he gives so well at Le Mans.Whilst featuring briefly in the Live Action Arena (although what didn't?? i.e. everything that was in there was only briefly on and then quickly off)... There were at least 3 G50s dotted around the show and the Ginetta stand was heaving, all the time.
This year is a big one and the team are doing well to promote the marque in it's 50th Anniversary. The Cup cars will be excellent, but don't forget the GT4 ones as well, BGT will be alight this year, for all the right reasons

Well - neither of them were great at the Live Action, but maybe it was just the script they had to work with. I still think Hindhoff would look more at home at Lakeside.....It was mixed, but toi be honest Pistonheads didn't help, the car wasn't detailed as they said it would be, the hall in question had terrible lighting, and they had put it in a group of hot hatches and BMW M cars! It would have better with Lotus's and other small sports cars. I didn't hang around the car much but plenty of people photographed it, but more photos were taken of the Golf GTi behind and the BMW M3 in front.
