Im biting the bullet and getting my Targa Top recovered on the Chim today (complete with new rubbers).

I will let you know how it turns out when i get it back tomorrow.

Has anyone waterproofed a new top, i take it that Thomsons waterseal goes straight on without putting anything else on first?

Nice one Tony. Whereabouts are you getting it done, and how much? Let us know how you get on....

You probably don't really need to do the targa as it's solid. However, I did when I proofed mine as it helps the water run off rather than soak into the cloth. Thomson weather seal seems to be the preferd stuff as it works as well as Fabsil but is cheaper. I use Fabsil as I bought a big can before I knew about Thompson's stuff.

Picked it up and its a superb job...very nice.
New rubbers have been fitted but i supplied them myself.

The man who did the job was Peter Jay 07930968659 and he is based in Wheathampstead, Herts.

Total cost was £120 and its now as good as new....all i need now is the car to go with it.

Just found out that Peter charges under £400 for a complete hood retrim and that includes a new rear window too........seems like superb value to me.
