I`m aware of the no naming policy on here so I`ll try and be cautious. My S2 was bumped way back in August, my insurance broker from Silverstone have fought hard for me. The underwriters have fobbed me off badly by disputing the damage, also whilst they had the car the mot and tax expired. I put a sorn notice on the car for obvious reasons, any way a cheque was sent to my home address and the car dumped outside of my house in South Wales. I work in Salisbury so I couldn`t put the car in the garage. The underwriters asked me to get a quote for repair in South Wales and a top up cheque would be sent. No cheque!!! they have changed their minds, they even tried to get an embetterment payment off of me claiming the car would be in better condition after the repair, con merchants!!! Anyway if you are interested in knowing who these bunch of crooks are, just E.mail me.

Steve, I may be being thick here, but I assume the insurers did some work (hence the first cheque) but more was required.

If this is so, why didn't they do it all in one go (maybe due to the dispute?).

It may be worth taken up again with the broker, they won't want too many unhappy customers and may help resolution.

You could also contact the ABI and inform them, and there must be an Ombudsman somewhere.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience but this morning I have just received a confirmation letter of my agreed valuation with A.MANNINGS (UK). An insurance company that oftens seems to get knocked for high priced policies. My policy cost £558 and my agreed write-off valuation is a whoping £45,000....No wonder I've get a big grin on my face this morning biggrin

Dave, no work was carried out!! just an estimate by the insurance engineer, even the approved TVR repair centre said it was 2000 to fix, I got a quote for 1200 and the cheque I recieved was for 800. The dispute being, crazing on the bonnet in two small areas which were not there before the bump. My car was shunted and then the other car actually climbed on top of the bonnet, the insurance company are not interested at all.

Together with your hard working broker you should immediately refer this to the Insurance Ombudsman who I believe has the power to review the decision and rule on it. In any case you should refer if you feel you're being treated unfairly.

I don't understand why you parted with the car soo that it had to be delivered back to you but that's not really the issue. Nick.

Steve, I understand now so you have a shortfall of £400 which is the dispute. As posted above, I would try and engage with the broker, write to the insurer stating you are unhappy and wish to seek resolution (i.e. the £400) and if that is not forthcoming within some specified period you will go to the Ombudsman. Of course, you could go dirctely to the Ombudsman, but your priority will be to get the money (I assume).

Are there any pictures of your car available that show there was no crazing prior to the incident? We met at a very wet SCH and there were lots of photos around. Someone may be able to blow up any photo to show there was no crazing? I realise that would not be 'evidence' as such as there would be no date/time stamp but it may help your cause. No doubt you've taken photos of her, been to events etc so it may be worth asking for any photos people have.

I just watched a couple of your videos smile

The crazing is minimal, but it can be seen and will only get worse. Pictures, I sent pictures to the broker for an agreed value for insuring the car and they were happy with them. As it`s the gel coat that`s crazed in two small areas I can`t see what all the fuss is about and it doesnt cost 400 to sand back and repair gelcoat, to say I`m annoyed is an understatement. Which videos have you watched?

Phew!! Gereat news!! I jumped to a (wrong) assumption. So you just agreed a write-off valuation in the event of. Hmmmm, I should do that too but presumably they adjust that annually. So pleased anyway - your Tusc is in my favourite colour for that model and yours looks just great.

Thanks for your kind comments about my car.I reckon everyone should do that if you can, I just needed a valuation from TVR Service Garage and 5 recent photos of the car. If the unmentionable was to happen I don't want to start argueing about book values etc., I would just want to be able to buy something similiar....Seems the no hassle option to me....and doesn't cost any more with Mannings

Sounds like you`ve got a good deal, might try Mannings next time, are they a broker or the full on underwriters?

I use Mannings, who broker for Allianz. The only claim I've done was for a broken windscreen and they couldn't have been more helpful, including letting me go to a TVR windscreen specialist (from here) who had stock of windscreens. No problems with getting the cheque either. It came within 3 days of subbmitting the invoice.

I go via Mannings. The first claim I'd ever had in 40+ years of bikes and cars was when a cupboard fell off the wall in my garage and damaged the rear offside wing, the offside door, the front wing and the nearside door.

As I wasn't sure what the procedures were, I asked for help which they gave generously. The underwriters didn't quibble although they did send out a claims assessor who was extremely pleasant if a little confused about the n/s door (caused by a puller bouncing off the roof and hitting the far wall then the door.)

Manning's quote was the cheapest I had, although not by much (about £20 I seem to remember). But after hearing so much about poor service I'd still stay with them even if they were a bit dearer. I never bought the cheapest crash helmet, I went for a reasonably priced one I could depend on.

As I've only ever had one claim I suppose you can't say I'm experienced in such matters. But I feel the service I got was very good.
